APC to Tennessee BOP: Where’s the benefit?

APC this week wrote to the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy to express concern that the board has not shown evidence that two proposed compounding-related regulations will improve patient safety. Specifically, APC objects to a proposed rule that all personnel who compounded the product be listed on the dispensing container label, as well as one changing the frequency of inspections for out-of-state pharmacy practice sites engaged in compounding. The Alliance asserts that the proposed changes may be unnecessary and burdensome unless the board can point to a clear scientific basis or patient safety benefit.

If you are licensed in Tennessee, now is the time to send comments to the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy on the proposed changes. The board meets May 8.
