FDA warns about "third-party" sellers
In a letter to the Federation of State Medical Boards, FDA’s Gail Bormel made it clear that the agency’s recent (and ongoing) crackdown on the “third parties” that many patients use to to get certain medications, e.g., GLP-1s, is a broad effort. It’s targeting the behavior of a wide range of sellers, from large companies like Eli Lilly, to legitimate compounding pharmacies and facilities, to illegal pop-up websites.
We were particularly happy about a point Bormel made — once again — as part of her explanation: that FDA clearly recognizes the role of compounded drugs. It can’t be said often enough.
