Um … there is no FDA ban on GLP-1 compounding
Reporter from a major media outlet: Have you heard that the FDA isn’t enforcing its ban on GLP-1 compounding?
APC’s Scott Brunner (exasperated): What ban?
The entire premise is misinformed, he explained, patiently. It’s obviously echoing the misinformation drugmakers have been spreading in public statements (and letters to medical boards). “There is no ban on GLP-1 compounding,” Scott said. “To say so is total nonsense. FDA hasn’t ‘banned’ anything.”
These are the kinds of distortions and false claims we have to fight every dang day — misinformation deliberately being spread by large corporations with deep pockets that know they can get away with it. (We wouldn’t for a moment suggest you search for “illegal marketing of Zyprexa” or “illegal marketing of Evista” — you might notice someone has a habit of … distortion.)
It’s why we ask you to invest in programs like CompPAC and the Legal Action Fund. It’s why we push you to attend Compounders on Capitol Hill. And it’s why we create programs like EduCon — because the best way to support compounding is to be the best compounder you can be.
