California

AB 1990 had its hearing in the Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection on April 21, where APC’s Tenille Davis and patient Valerie Downs testified in opposition. We’re grateful to both for their time and voices. At the close of testimony, the vote was left “on call,” meaning the tally was paused to give the bill’s author more time to secure the votes needed to pass. We’ll be watching closely to see how that plays out. Managing expectations: It will likely pass out of the committee.

Colorado

SB 26-066 has a Health and Human Services committee hearing scheduled for April 28. The bill targets the marketing and distribution of compounded GLP-1 weight-loss medications, establishing new deceptive trade practice rules enforced exclusively by the state attorney general. The concern for legitimate compounding pharmacies is how broadly those provisions could be applied. More after April 28.
