APC in the “news”. APC Chief Advocacy Officer Tenille Davis (“a spokesperson for the alliance”) was quoted in a Reuters story about Ohio joining most states in aligning its batch-size limits with USP recommendations of 250 drug units. If you’re thinking, “So what?” we’re with you. But apparently Reuters thought this was a bigger deal than it is, so we were happy to have Tenille weigh in. (Side note: We have some issues with those limits, in part because of the additional risk they introduce but that has nothing to do with Ohio specifically.)
Reminder: Tell us what your pharmacy does. Strange but true: No one has taken the time to collect real-world data on pharmacy compounding — not even the basics, like what’s dispensed, where, and in what forms. APC is changing that with our national compounding-dispensing data initiative. The goal is to head off a push by drugmakers to mandate reporting of compounded prescriptions to FDA by collecting important data now. We need 100 pharmacies to sign up in the next 45 days. Please help — grab the form (it’s only one page, plus the required legal agreement), fill it out, and send it back. A few minutes today beats an FDA-sized headache tomorrow.
Please support these friends of compounding. Even if you can’t make it to Compounders on Capitol Hill, you can still support the two members of Congress who are our special guests this year: representatives Diana Harshbarger of Tennessee and Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts. If you’re at CCH, of course, we hope you’ll attend the reception for Harshbarger and the dinner for Auchincloss (although there are only a few seats left as we write this). If not, you can make an investment in CompPAC, and we’ll take it from there.
