Setting the record straight: Help us counter pharma’s lies

We’ve had enough of drug manufacturers’ misrepresentation of pharmacy compounding. We’ve sent a letter to the directors of every state board of pharmacy, and now we need you to get it to BoP members in your state.

You know what the drug makers are saying and how often they’re saying it. Now we’re worried that people will start to believe it. So to fight back, our comprehensive letter breaks down how pharma companies have been playing fast and loose with the truth, then it explains in detail what the reality is — the actual facts, not pharma’s ‘alternative’ versions.

Your job (and we’re counting on you) is to make sure this letter gets to the board of pharmacy members in your state. Email it, post it, fax it, deliver it — whatever it takes. Even better, preface it with a short, personal note explaining how Big Pharma is putting your patients at risk.

The lies we call out (and yes, let’s call them what they are: lies):

• That legitimate compounded medications fall within the same category as counterfeit, “knock-off,” and illicit medications;
• That APIs used for compounded GLP-1 medications are subpar or counterfeit;
• That there are an inordinate number of serious adverse events associated with compounded GLP-1 medications; and
• That FDA-registered outsourcing facilities are engaged in mass production and improperly transferring compounded medications to state-licensed pharmacies for dispensing.

“None of these claims are true,” we wrote, “and we are concerned by efforts to manipulate the public and regulators into believing things that are false.”
