Reporting controlleds? Remember the states
Sure, you know you have to report controlled-substance transactions (as well as thefts, losses, and suspicious prescriptions) to the DEA. The good folks at FDA Law Blog, though, want you to remember that several states — including California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, New York, and Texas (and possibly others) — also require at least some level of state reporting depending on the “transaction.”
“[N]ext time you submit a required federal report,” they write, “remember the states because ‘controlled substance reporting isn’t just for DEA anymore’.”
