July 17, 2026 — Short Takes

Georgia on our minds. Georgia — where earlier this year we quashed action on a dangerous bill in the state legislature — this week was the site of our latest luncheon for pharmacy owners (a big thanks to TJM Labs for sponsoring it). It was the third of our strategy luncheons in states where we anticipate drugmakers may attempt to introduce restrictive compounding legislation next year. Your state might be next! ↴

Congrats to Naveed! APC member Naveed Tharwani, that is, who just received the Georgia Pharmacy Association’s Excellence in Innovation Award for developing “new and better ways to improve the care of his patients.”

A bad bill grabs attention. According to Southwest Ledger, the SAFE Drugs Act of 2025 is the second most–viewed bill on Congress.gov in the last week, behind only the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act of 2023*. Obviously views doesn’t mean support, just that people are interested. And that means there’s a good chance legislators are primed to hear more about it. From you and your patients – see “Anti-compounding bill gains traction,” above.

Come see us next week at RBC. If you’re in Orlando for Cardinal Health’s Retail Business Conference (July 22–25), come swing by and say hello to APC staffers Jason Dunn and Drew Floyd in booth 340.

* We weren’t able to verify this, so take it with a grain of salt; it’s also not clear why a 2023 bill is so high on the list.
