If you missed last week's APC member emergency briefing on California bill AB 1990, the full recording is now available to APC members (and only members).
The more urgent ask: we need resources, and we need them fast. AB 1990 cleared the Assembly without a single amendment, and a Senate hearing is set for June 22. The legal, advocacy, and coalition work required to stop or fix this bill before that hearing will cost between $100,000 and $125,000. The $1.3 million raised earlier this year was fully allocated to defeating similar bills in 10 other states. It worked. But it leaves us in a potential deficit on California with the clock running.
This is what APC’s Compounding Defense Fund is for. A contribution of $1,000, $5,000, or $10,000 makes a direct difference — funding the legal and regulatory work, the coalition efforts, and the rapid-response capacity to act before the Senate moves. If you've already given, please consider an additional amount. This fight came up fast — the next hearing is June 22 – and the window is short. Invest in the Defense Fund here.
