At its June 30 meeting, the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy approved extending the compounder compliance grace period to 365 days following the Compounding Council’s deadline to establish standards. The board also expanded the council to 12 members (adding a seat for low-risk, non-sterile compounders in retail settings), and it adopted new provisions allowing removal of council members by majority vote. Additional discussions focused on balancing representation, enforcement limitations, and the need for more South Carolina–specific data.

Support Buddy for Senate. Congressman Buddy Carter could be the second* pharmacist to serve in the Senate. CompPAC is co-hosting a BIG summer reception and retreat in support of Buddy Carter for Senate at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, from Sunday, July 27 to Monday, July 28. It’s $2,500 to attend the retreat and $3,500 to co-host. RSVP to RSVP@fundraisinginc.com. Please consider supporting him, even if you can’t attend this fundraising soiree in person.
