FAQ about CE credit

Rules regarding reporting of CEUs to the CPE Monitor Database
All ACPE-accredited providers have 60 days after the CPE activity participation date to upload the participant credit into CPE Monitor. The provider must upload the participant information 60 days from the date the participant completed the CPE activity. This applies to all CPE activities: live, internet-base, and home-study articles.
To facilitate these rules and ensure timely upload of all participant credits to the CPE Monitor, the following apply to the issuance of continuing education credits by APC.
Participant credit will only be awarded upon successful completion of all online session evaluations:
- For Live Conferences: The participant must complete the online session evaluation form within two weeks after the date of the live activity.
- For Live APC Regional Education Meetings: The participant must complete the online session evaluation from within two weeks after the date of the live activity.
- For Live APC AdvanCE Webinars: The participant must complete the online session evaluation form within one week after the date fo the live activity.
- For Self-paced APC Advance Webinars: The participant must submit the post-activity online session evaluation prior to the expiration date of the activity.
- Paper statements of credit will no longer be issued. All credit awarded by ACPE-accredited providers to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must be via CPE Monitor. If participants would like a paper statement of credit, they may print an individual statement of credit or a transcript from their CPE Monitor/NABP e-profile at www.mycpemonitor.net or www.napb.net.
All continuing pharmacy education credits awarded by APC will be uploaded within 30 days of the completion of the activity. Please monitor your NABP e-Profile account for accuracy. if you do not see CPE activity displayed for a session that you attended and it has been more than 30 days since you submitted the CPE to the provider, please contact your CPE provider. CPE Monitor is a national, collaborative effort by NABP and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to provide an electronic system for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to track their completed continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. It will also offer state boards of pharmacy the opportunity tot electronically authenticate the CPE unites completed by their licensees, rather than requiring pharmacists and technicians to submit their proof of completion statements upon request or for random audits. This initiative will streamline processes for pharmacy practitioners to ensure they are maintaining professional competency requirements. CPE Monitor is expected to save pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, state boards of pharmacy, and CPE providers time and money.
How it works
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will receive a unique ID after setting up their e-Profile with NABP. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are now required to provide their NABP e-Profile ID and date of birth to the provider when they register for CPE or submit a request for credit. The system will then direct electronic data from ACPE-accredited providers to ACPE and then to NABP, ensuring that CPE credit is officially verified by the providers. Once information is received by NABP, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be able to log in to access information about their completed CPE activities.
Beginning January 1, 2013, ACPE-accredited CPE providers will no longer be required to distribute statements of credit. In addition, boards of pharmacy will have the option of requesting reports on their licensees, eliminating the need for pharmacists and technicians to send paper copies of CPE statements of credit. Instead, records kept in CPE Monitor will be sent to the boards for CPE activities taken from ACPE-accredited providers. In Phase 2 fo the CPE Monitor initiative, CPE Monitor will add a function to record CPE from providers not accredited by ACPE in addition to CPE activities from ACPE-accredited providers. Until Phase 2 is completed, pharmacists and technicians will need to submit proof of completion of CPE from providers not accredited by ACPE directly to the board of pharmacy when required to do so.
How to register for CPE Monitor
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are asked to obtain their NAPB e-Profile ID now at www.MyCPEMonitor.net. To accomplish this, complete and accurate information must be provided. Any errors may result in unrecorded or mis-recorded CPE credit. In 2013, the service will make available the CPE data to boards of pharmacy who request information on licensee CPE as part of their compliance activities.
How to obtain credit
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are now required to submit their NABP e-Profile ID and birth date to receive credit for any ACPE-accredited CPE session. it is the responsibility of the CPE attendee to provide their correct NABP e-Profile ID and birth date. If incorrect information is provided, the record will be rejected by CPE Monitor and the CPE credit will not be awarded.
Beginning January 1, 2013, a certificate attendance is not sufficient to record your CE credit. All credits will be filed electronically on your behalf with NABP's CPE Monitor.
If you complete the online evaluation for the CE session within the deadline, your CPE credits will be uploaded to the CPE Monitor System within 30 days of completion. If you do not see CPE activity displayed for a session that you attended and it has been more than 30 days since you submitted the CPE to the provider, please contact your CPE provider. International pharmacy preceptors and Canadian pharmacists
If you are in need of an e-Profile and e-Profile ID to participate in Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-accredited continuing pharmacy education (CPE) because you do not have a United States Social Security number, and are unable to obtain one form the Social Security Administration, please contact NABP Customer Service for further assistance as special handling is necessary. Please verify with your international board if they will accept ACPE CPE credit before you register for a program.
Benefitting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
CPE Monitor will provide a secure, central system that maintains and tracks all continuing education credit from ACPE accredited providers. this streamlined process will eliminate the need to file and maintain hard copy CPE statements of credit for CPE activities taken from ACPE-accredited providers. Instead, online access to their inventory of completed credits will allow pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to easily monitor their compliance with the CPE requirements of the state or states where they hold a license or registration. Licensees of participating boards will no longer have to mail hard copy proof of CPE statements of credit to those boards.
For added convenience, the NABP e-Profile is available 24/7 for pharmacists and technicians to view a comprehensive list of the CPE activities they have taken. all information will be maintained in a highly secure environment. NABP will not distribute any personal information for commercial purposes without consent.
